Onboarding & Process

Finding editors you can work with is hard! To make the process as stress and anxiety-free as possible, take a look at how our onboarding process looks like!

Send an email with details of your project

Writing is a very subjective art, and editors will have their own specialties and preferences! You can send me an email with the following details of your project so I know if your work is something I can work on:

  • Summary/blurb/pitch of your book.

  • Genre & word count.

  • Trigger & content warnings if applicable.

  • Sample pages.

You can easily do this by going to the INQUIRE page. I have a form ready for you to fill out with all the necessary details!

2

Book your sample edits

Once I've taken a look at your book and think we're a great fit, we can book your free sample edit.

3

Sign an editorial agreement

If you're happy with the sample edits and would like to move forward, I'll send you an editorial agreement. Editorial agreements exist to protect both client and editor! My clauses ensure that I will not use any A.I., and that I also won't be editing A.I. generated works. This will also list out specifics like schedule, mode of delivery, and negotiated payment plans if applicable.

4

Book & wait for delivery

You'll send in the work and I'll confirm if I have everything I need. Depending on the length of the work and the packages involved, I may take 2-4 weeks for each phase.

4

Free, ongoing consultations for rendered critiques

I won't leave you after we're done! For developmental edits, I offer free consultations on rendered critiques. This way, you're not wondering what I meant about a certain character or a chapter. Limited service inquiry is also available for all other editing services (like line & copy, and proofreads) to allow for clarifications.

YOUR EDITOR & CHEER QUEEN

I'm Raquel A. Gil

I specialize in developmental and line edits

SILVERPRESS comes from my initials (A.G.) and my love for helping authors shine and polish their works. I have a BA in Language and Literature (in two languages!) and am working on my MA in Creative Writing. Over the last 10 years, I've edited mainly for writer-friends who went on to publish under anthologies for small presses while working on my own novels. I offer substantially more affordable rates as I build my portfolio.

STRICTLY HUMAN HANDS ONLY. NO A.I. IS USED IN ANY OF MY EDITS.
